Communications Specialist

Job Function

To effectively and creatively implement and support the marketing and communications strategy, ensuring that OGCI Climate Investments LLP’s story is told effectively to a wide range of stakeholders from large industrials, public entities, innovators, investors, media and the general public. Climate Investments should be viewed as a cutting-edge organisation, having a positive impact on the carbon footprint of the energy and industrial sectors, with strong appeal to both co-investors and innovators for its ability to support them in commercialising innovation.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Understanding and engaging with key stakeholders to tell the OGCI CI story
  • Management of internal and external communications
  • Development of marketing and communications materials, including both text and rich content, for brochures, media, social media and website
  • Support in planning and executing external events

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Executing and implementing communications strategy and plan, with ongoing identification and evaluation of communications opportunities arising from OGCI Climate Investments LLP activities, as appropriate.
  • To understand and engage with a wide range of stakeholders from large industrials, public and regulatory entities, innovators, financial and strategic investors, media and the general public, establishing positive associations by adapting the story of OGCI Climate Investments LLP as necessary to suit different stakeholders.
  • To create concise, succinct summaries highlighting OGCI Climate Investment LLP’s mission, objectives and activities.
  • To liaise with internal functions to ensure technical accuracy and consistency in all communications.
  • To deliver a cohesive message across all internal and external communication channels.
  • To liaise with external agencies on the development and deployment of communications content related to press releases, messaging, Q&A, presentations, website, infographics, video, social media content, branding, newsletters, advertising, sponsorship and sponsorship execution.
  • To support the Strategic Marketing and Communications Director with the management and organisation of external events and media opportunities including managing a global external events calendar, facilitating the process of CI participation, liaising with host organisations and the preparation of key messages, slides and speeches as required.
  • To implement an integrated content calendar across available platforms
  • To liaise with CI’s external communications agency to generate and receive feedback on the effectiveness of the communications materials, including the annual report, to adjust CI’s communications approach as necessary to increase effectiveness.

Main Interfaces


(Direct and functional reporting relationships; interaction within and between functions).

  • Reports directly to Technology Principal
  • Works broadly within the overall Technology team to support various Ventures and Project investment activities
  • Active collaboration and interaction across the entire CI organisation and in particular with the Legal, Finance, Environmental, Projects and Marketing functions


(Liaison requirements with other companies; consultants; agencies; professional associations; peer groups etc).

  • OGCI Member companies and other third party stakeholders such as consultants, service organizations or other entities used to support diligence and deployment processes

Education and Professional Qualifications Required
  • Demonstrated professional experience in communications, marketing, journalism or a similar field
  • Well-rounded communications professional with previous experience within the energy, tech, venture capital, private equity, or sustainability industries
  • Proven stakeholder management and engagement
  • Excellent written storyteller and copywriter
  • Understanding of media, social media and digital channels

  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills are essential as well as impeccable attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and to manage ambiguity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholder groups internally and externally
  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills with the ability to translate technical language into a compelling story suitable for a layperson's understanding
  • Commercially aware with strong decision-making skills
  • Highly analytical with the ability and confidence to suggest improvements

Unusual Working Conditions:

  • Domestic and International Travel will be required from time to time (approximately 20-25%).
  • Diverse locations of OGCI may require out of hours meetings from time to time.

Special Physical Requirements:

Visits to industrial sites requiring appropriate PPE will be required
